About Benjamin Beilman
Recently named the First Prize winner of the eminent 2010 Montréal International Musical Competition, violinist Benjamin Beilman also captured the People’s Choice Award during his performances in Montréal. Only 20, he was also a recipient of Philadelphia’s prestigious Musical Fund Society Career Advancement Award in 2010. A 2007 Presidential Scholar in the Arts and the recipient of a Gold Award in Music from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, Mr. Beilman was also the First Prize winner at both the 2009 Schmidbauer Competition and the 2009 Corpus Christi International Competition (where he was also awarded the special Bach prize). He was a winner of Astral Artists’ 2009 National Auditions, where he was also awarded the MILKA/ASTRAL VIOLIN PRIZE, designated for a violinist invited to join Astral’s roster, and captured the top prize from the Stulberg International String Competition, the Music Teachers National Association, the Society of American Musicians, and Midwest Young Artists, among others. As the Grand Prize winner of the American String Teachers’ Association national solo competition, he made his debut with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Beilman has performed as soloist with the The Philadelphia Orchestra, L’Orchestre Metropolitain de Montréal, Toledo Symphony, the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony, and the RAI National Symphony in Turin, Italy, and has been a featured artist at the Marlboro and Verbier festivals. Concert appearances in the 2010-2011 season include performances with the New Mexico and Longmont symphony orchestras, a tour with “Musicians from Marlboro,” and recitals for the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society and the Linton Chamber Music Series. He currently studies at the Curtis Institute of Music with Ida Kavafian.
